Why merino wool cycling socks?

Every year we give our winter cycling socks collection a little twist, we started with the STELVIO model two years ago and from there we decided to give it a more technical format and with a more competitive aspect with the PRO line, where we also add some copper fibers that helped transfer the temperature through the sole of the foot, helping to conduct the temperature throughout the sole of the foot.

This year we have taken a complete turn, changing the structure and betting mainly on Merino wool for the construction of our winter cycling sock. It is important to note that the finer they are, the greater the percentage of Wool we will have in contact with the skin and thus we will optimize its performance.

So we are going to clear all doubts regarding the eternal question... Why merino wool for cycling?

Wool is often confused with merino wool, since conventional wool becomes soaked once it gets wet and is difficult to dry, which is not the case with merino wool, which is finer and has an ordered structure through wefts. irregular that leave spaces with air inside and thus maintain body heat. With this we also get much thinner socks with much better insulation.

The technical characteristics that merino wool gives us are the following:

  • Impressive thermal properties in cold situations, maintaining your foot temperature constantly.
  • Greatly delays the appearance of odors thanks to its natural antibacterial properties.
  • It maintains the heat of the foot even if it is wet or humid.
  • Its softness prevents any type of itching in the foot area.
  • It repels water in a certain way, so in foggy situations in the ports at first hour it is very useful.
  • It is breathable thanks to the diameter of its fibers as well as the size of the pockets that are generated inside.
  • The keratin contained in this fiber helps protect against ultraviolet rays.
  • It is 100% ecological and natural, so it does not have any negative impact on our environment.

Without a doubt, this is the best material for cycling in the coldest times of the year.

At last, we will only have cold beers on our cycling outings!
